AOIT Experiences

            I joined the Academy of Information of Technology when it was first introduced to me at Hoover High school. To me the Academy seemed to be a great opportunity. I gained a lot of new skills in my T.S.S. class and my BACA class. I received college credits for both of these classes. In the academy we were given all the support we needed for a good education. For example, the Talent Search program helped us with a lot of college applications and meeting college standards. My internship with the Futures Foundation at the CHCTC was great. I also gained a lot of knowledge on the job shadows that we participated in.

            I have taken five classes with the academy so far. They are T.S.S., BACA, U.S. History, American Literature, and World Literature. The academy made these classes more enjoyable and at the same time taught me many new skills that will last me a lifetime. Now I am better prepared for a professional job. When I first joined the Academy I had no idea what field I was going to pursue. The Academy gave me a direction. It helped me decide what career best fits my goals and personality. I am thinking about counseling or business. I like how the AOIT is like a community where everyone supports each other. You get to know the students very well because the same students are in the same classes with you. The classes are not just a classroom with four walls but are linked to the outside world.
