Georgia On My Mind...
May - 1999

Hiê`n and I recently made a trip down to Atlanta, Georgia for a wedding. We were there for only 2 days, so, we chose only a few key features of Atlanta and spent quality time there. Stone Mountain was on our wished list, but we didn't have enough time.

Below are a few beautiful sights of Atlanta. We will add more pictures the next time we travel that way again. :)

Georgia Capitol Georgia Capitol

The building with the golden dome-shaped roof is the Capitol of Georgia.  The capitol was completed in 1889, the dome of the Capitol is topped with 23-karat gold mined from Dahlonega, Ga. It is very beautiful! You have got to see it for yourself!

We didn't have a chance to tour inside the building. But we can assume that the interior is probably as glamourous as the exterior.  A collection of the Confederate flags is inside this building.

Centennial Park

This was where the Olympic opening ceremony took place in 1996. It is worth checking out. The park is filled with all kinds of memoirs of the 1996 Olympic. We heard that the park is more colorful at night time than during the day time. Well, we enjoyed our afternoon there anyway.

Read Fun Facts about this attraction.

Centennial Park

Georgia Dome Georgia Dome

All the exciting games of football and other sports take place inside this stadium. It was a long walk from the Centennial Park to this dome. :) We got there, but again, we didn't make it inside. Maybe we will next time.

Georgia Dome has been named to host Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000. Also, and it was a host to the gymnastics, basketball and the finals of team handball during the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games.
