Fall 2006

ABOUT US
Dedicated to the great effort of a team.

The beginning

Hand picked players that showed skills for the game that shined over the rest. Long hours of scouting, getting to know more about the players, and sometimes more importantly about the parents. Tryouts were conducted. Phones rang that very same night. The message: You are in the Kendall Hammocks All Stars Little League team. Great joy. Hard work and dedication paid off. The sky is the limit. So much still ahead, in few days the first practice together.
Getting to know each other, the likes, and the dislikes. What school do you go? What grade are you in? After that, everything came natural. Like long time friends, like teammates from the past celebrating the reunion.

The sweet taste of winning, time after time. Well, most of the time

Here we are, Elite 8. What does that mean? Means a lot of traveling, means homes, pets and backyards neglected, means few hundreds of dollars in equipment, means a lot of miles on our SUV, means at the end, a great effort from parents, coaches and players, a high degree of commitment. Meant that we had something special going on.
Some teams are expected to lose, some do not know, but a few know that always win, well, most of the time. Facing a loss, was not a nice picture, losing twice was unbearable.

Florida Vs Georgia

It took just a week to find a way to keep playing together, still remembering those days of winning at Key Largo and at North Miami, wondering about Hammer the umpire, and following the Florida Little League team on TV on their way to Williamsport. Tivoing the games, following it so close like if they were family. Florida went down against Georgia. That was it for Florida, great respects for Georgia, great team.

We have the memories

From there it’s been a roller coaster, with ups and downs, new players are invited, the group now tries to find a new identity, signs of stress appear in all involved, a new ingredient has been added: School, and all that comes with it. Homework, projects, progress reports. A lot to deal with when you are just 12 or 13.

However, the Stars keep shining, maturing as they go, as players and as human beings, always rising above the situations. A Florida State Senator took time to sign a letter of congratulations for the team, only by knowing their record. Yes, the records are out there for people to see. But we have the memories, we did shed sweat and tears, our heart was out there every time our son was up to bat, every time our son was up to pitch, every time a ball was hit his way, every time that compliments or something else was received from the coaches, every step of the way we were all there. We were all there.

Cheers ! to the Stars

So this web site that you are visiting now, celebrates the Stars that God gave us to raise, to protect and to guide. The reason that push us forward, that boy-turning-to-man voice that ask us Did you see my catch?, Those eyes that look for ours after sliding at home and scoring for his team. We celebrate here those little moments that we will carry forever in our hearts.
