Why Only Angels Fly For Elizabeth

I can't wake her cuz she's resting.
I feel tired of this life.
Pretty angels on my headboard.
And their wings are growing.
Light sleepers.  Heavy dreamers.
Interrupting my heart.
And I love her like a mother.
And she once was.

In the arms of vicious love.
And he'll drink to that.
She was no angel in my life.
But now she's somewhere with new wings.
Asleep with ghosts and fairy tales.
And a ticket to my next dream.
Home is never where the heart is.
Who knows why only angels fly?

And I wish that I could fly.
But flying means nothing,
When you're afraid to die.
But I'm more afraid of life.
That's got to mean something...

Skin never lasts.  But love's forever.
And sometimes angels make mistakes.
Love is replaced by her memory.
And she lives inside me.
Not all smiles are shown without tears.
Not all angels have had lives.
And she rests now amongst us.
And above us as well.

I can't wake her cuz she's resting.
I feel tired of this life.
And my daughter will never know her.
Elizabeth will have me.
And a mother lives forever.
Life is painful memories,
That tend to comfort once in awhile.
They still send letters to her old home.

I can't fly, I can't fly...
I can't fly without her.
I can't fly, I can't fly...
I can't fly without you.
