Ever since Season 02 of Digimon: Digital Monsters aired on Fox Kids all those many years ago, (back in the late 90's) there has been a great debate as to who should win the heart (and everything else, but we won't go there) of Crest of Light holder Hikari Yagami (more typically known as Kari Kamiya). In many fanfiction stories, the obvious and ONLY suitor for HIkari is her friend and fellow digi-destined Takeru Takaishi (Commonly known as T.K) To some, this is an obvious choice: They're the same age, they've known each other since the first trip to File Island, (Though, technically, they didn't meet until after the whole "Myotismon Incident", but that's another story.) BOTH of their digimon digivolves into Angels in their ultimate forms, and it's only by combining Hikari's "Light" crest with Takeru's "Hope" crest to allow their brother's Digimon (Agumon and Gabumon) to "Warp Digivolve" to a much higher level and defeat Myotismon as foretold by the prophecy. This group is called the Takari's (Combination of TK and Kari's names)
HOWEVER, there are a group of fanatics out there that feel that Hikari's heart should belong to Season 02 leader, and holder of the crests of Courage and Friendship of Daisuke Motomiya (commonly known as Davis). It is apparent that he has a crush on her from episode one, yet in the series, Hikari frequently shoots him down and shows more attention to Takeru. However, many believe that, somewhere down the line, Hikari got tired of Daisuke pestering her again and again to go out with her, she wound up liking him, and they get together. This group is called the Dakari's (Combination of Daisuke and Hikari's names) Their mission: convience all that Daisuke and Hikari are truly soul mates.
With time, the Takari's began submitting fanfiction story after fanfiction story each with different senarios: adventures in the digital world that result in a blossoming romance, dating, getting married, pregnacy, having kids...all staring and featuring their favorite couple in the sappiest of situations. Even their digmon weren't left behind: there have been a number of stories about Patamon and Gatomon in similiar situations. (Some situations are rather...ahem...adult...but once again that's a subject I'll just leave to your imaginations...you freaks!)
This got the Dakari's very angry and not only triggered them to start submitting stories, (both digimon and human pairings) but flaming Takari-based stories to no end. This, in turn, triggered the Takari's to retaliate. Thus started the Takari/Dakari Flame Wars: lead by an escentric flammer, Davis worshiper, and former Fanficion.net author Mykan. Many stories were removed by FF.net administrators due to the wars, and quite a few authors were banished from FF.net. But, in the end, Mykan, who was notorious for leaving legenthy flames in Takari fanfiction stories and capturing those who oppose him in specialized "PokeBalls", gave up and comitted "suicide" thereby, unofficially, ending the Takari/Dakari War. The Takari's were estatic! Word spread through forums and review boards about the downfall of the Dakari warloard Mykan, and more Takari and PataGato stories showed up on FF.net, all recieving great reviews! (well, there was that one little story, but we don't like to talk about it much...)
Recenlty, I sat down with CEO/Webmaster Lord Patamon of "Takari PataGato Corner": A site dedicated not only to Takeru and Hikari but to their Digimon (Patamon and Gatomon = PataGato - also subject of many fanfiction stories) and asked him about the future of the Takari's and the Dakari's. My questions are in red, his replies are in green:
Lord Patamon: well I'm gonna be sincere, even with Mykan dead the Daikari threat don't gonna desappear, I mean, ever since season 2 started, the struggle between Takari and Daikari fans and even the PataGato and VeeGato fans started and with the time it got strong meaning Takari and Daikari shrines on the net, the Daikari fans having their "proof" of that Daikari has more chance than Takari and even that VeeGato has more chance than PataGato, and at the same time the Takari and PataGato fans made their shrines too and with their proof of Takari. this is exactly like the love triangle struggle Sorato - Taiora, but in a way big scale.
KhakiBlueThunder: In the end, do you ever see the Takari and the Dakari's ever finding peace?
Lord Patamon: maybe with time we can see some peace between Takari and Daikari but that is gonna be hard to get as long as guys like Mykan on both fandoms continue insulting and flaming the other fandom, you saw how long Mykan took to give up.
KhakiBlueThunder: Who would you say, in your honest opinion, is the "Mykan" of the Takari's?
Lord Patamon: well to tell the truth I really don't know, I mean Baby Gatomon is a Takari die hard fan but her reviews on Daikari fics never were like Mykan's, besides she only reviewed a couple of Daikari fics where the authors "God Modded" Davis beyond the imagination making him the prince of the digidestined and the mighty "God" for say it in some way but her reviews were more like "I can't believe a baka like Davis is a "God" but never attacking like Mykan did.
KhakiBlueThunder: So, now that the main Dakari fan is "Dead" (for the time being) who do you think is the biggest threat now to the Takari's?
Lord Patamon: well I really don't know but some Takari fans consider Gallantmon of the Hazard as a threat since in most of his Daikari/VeeGato fics he put TK turning on the team and going evil at the point that in one of his fics Gallantmon made TK destroy a digimon village killing 1500 digimon, and even tough it was that TK was being manipulated that was way out of what TK's real character is in the series, plus most of Gallantmon's fics are a huge mix of anime since Davis have powers from Yu Yu Hakusho, DBZ, the God cards of YuGiOh, Shaman King and others, or tell me can you picture Davis doing Yusuke Urameshi's Spirit Gun attack?
KhakiBlueThunder: Do you see youself waging a war with him in the near future?
Lord Patamon: nah! he is too much into his fics to care, besides he don't cares about flames or even constructive criticism reviews, I gotta confess that I leaved a review on one of his fic, it wasn't a flame, it was in a real polite way pointing the flaws on his fics, I even leaved the coupling issues aside and focused only on the plot of the fic but still he ignored my review and some other reviews like mine from other readers, he only cares for the reviews of the Daikari fans
KhakiBlueSocks: Okay. Last question: Favorite color socks?
Lord Patamon: well I don't have a specific favorite color but I like more use black or navy blue socks
