THE Srikrishna Commission Report is being toyed about with like a football by the Maharashtra Government. Sometimes the chief minister and his deputy say, "we are studying the legal position," at other times, they talk about writing a new Action Taken Report (ATR), which will include "names left out by the existing ATR." On the other side, Bal Thackeray an Manohar Joshi continue to threaten riots if the report is implemented.

A detailed reading of the report once more yielded these names, some of which recur in it. They can be classified into five categories:

Names of political leaders/activists who the commission has held responsible for certin acts.

Names of parties/organisations which had some role to play in the December '92-January '93 riots.

names of policemen against whom the commssion has recommended legal action (a committee is looking into this).

Names of newspapers which contributed to the riots.

Political leaders:

L K Advani (his rath yatra built up tension, left a trail of riots and was the precursor to the Mumbai riots.), Bal Thackeray (instigated in both phases and directed the violence in january '93.) Manohar Joshi (proponent of the theor of retaliation which accounted for the vigilantism of the Shiv Sainiks in January '93; also interfered with police arrests.), Madhukar Sarpotdar (played an active role in the riots in Nirmal Nagar.), Pramod Navalkar (admitted in an interview to The Times of India to the Sena's role in the riots.), Anna Dange, Shiv Sena MLA, Gajanan Kirtikar (led two morchas to Jogeshwari police station, which while dispersing, killed Muslims and damaged their property.), Ramesh More, Miling Vaidya (arrested for rioting in morcha to Antop Hill police station to demand the release of Sainiks arrested for burning alive three Muslims.), Chandrakant Padwal (organised maha-artis which turned violent in Grant Road and Gamdevi.) Mudund Thorat (directed rioters in Ghatkopar.), Prakash Ayare (made an inflammatory speech at a maha-arti im Mahim), Prahlad Thombre (led morcha to Antop Hill police station demanding release of Saniks, arrested for burning three muslims in Maruti Car.), Krishna Vishwasrao (SS corporator, same as above.), Bhai Shingre (SS rioting, Kalachowkie.), Ramakant Rahate (same as above.), Ravi Charan (same as above.), Sridhar Kadam (same as above.), Anil Gaekwad (same as above.), Ankolekar, Sagwekar, Tukaram Amire (SS activists who prompted affidavits which prompted no confidence.), Ashok Shinde (SS vibhag pramukh accused in Nirmal Nagar riot case.), Bhau Korgaonkar (SS vibhag pramukh, rioting in Kurla.), Vilas Bhanushali (same as above.), Vaman Lad (SS ex-corporator, made mathadi worker's murder a communal issue.), Hemant Koli (Shakha pramukh, led Ram Paduka procession where inflammatory speeches were made, rioters hung around his office.), Suryakant Pawar (Shakha pramukh, rioting, Dharavi.), Ramkrishna Keni (ex-SS corporator, led banned victory rally in Dharvi on December 6, which stoned namazis.), Baburao Mane (Same as above.), Theresa Kilekar (SS activist, same as above.), Ashok Hadkar (SS shakha pramukh, organised maha artisin Gamdevi which led to violence.)
