   Is not very much
But I pledge that much to you

My scars run deep
And the pain still burns
   Through my dreams at night
   As I toss and turn
Wishing my dreams were of you

Bad times and years of
   Shame, doubt, anger, fear, shame, doubt
Rip through the heart that is full of
   Love for you

I pledge to you this heart
   Though battered and tattered
Under the scars is a love like no other
With the healing power
   Like the gentle touch of a mother
