My Road; Part II

Sitting here looking back
The crossroads seem so clear
For in my past there was a time
As they were drawing near
That I felt the road behind me
Slipping away as I passed
Before me hung a cloud of fog
And into the haze I grasped
For some answer to the questions
A sign as to which road to take

I stopped there for a moment
That felt like eternity
I ceased my travels for a time
So I could stop and see
Behind me the path was blurry
My heart as heavy as led
For I'd loved so hard my heart was gone
And I knew that love was dead

I shook off all the shadows
And began to journey on
The crossroads came into sight
The cloud of fog was gone
One road's name was "Lonely"
Another "Easy Street"
But the one that caught and held my eye
Was simply called "Risky"

It was filled with curves and hills
And appeared too hard to pass
But at the end I could see a glow
Something I had to have
So I took a right down "Risky Street"
Stopping briefly to look behind
Blew a kiss to the "what if's" & "maybe's"
Then tucked them away in my mind

And now I stand in the golden glow
At another journey's end
Looking back at the crossroads
That are now a long lost friend
Above the crossroads hangs a cloud
Behind which peeks the sun
A few drops of rain steadily fall
And I see the meaning to each one

For in my past was a cloud of doubt
And happiness that like the sun did shine
Many tears of pain did fall
But they live on in another time
A steady glow surrounds me now
Of all I've gained and learned
I traveled long and hard to find
This home for which I yearned
