- The 98th Rifles served with distinction in a number of periphery battles thoughout the last decade the most noteworthy being then battle of Dawning ridge on Ur-Cruine against attacking pirates, where by sheer fluke the unit ended up piloting an entire three lances of riflemen due to a snafu in the agreement with the local government. Even though the Unit took a 65% eqipment loss and a 50% pilot death rate against better equipped enemies the unit still prevailed and prevented the capitol of Ur-cruine from falling to the enemy. The 98th was about to sign a long term contract when the blakists began their campaign, and when detroit was attacked along with other planets by blakists using masquerading forces under the guise of House liao, the Unit assisted in the desperate evacuation of Ur-cruine and being the last known personnel to be evacuated they barely escaped themselves, with some modest salvage, and one of their original three dropships using a small scout class jumpship. At the current time the unit has moved into a temporary station on Worrel, working an short-term contract to assist the Combine hold it's borders.
