| Overview:
Few would believe you could possibly improve on perfection, however there are a lot of people in the inner sphere, and not to many have actually had the fate to meet Thomas "TKG" Sahashi on the field in a battle; but even so, those who have true reason to fear the atlas, especially his atlas. Originally located in an old storehouse on Bangor during his time as a member of the Nightskye lancers, and reconstructed over the course of two and a half years (3045 through 3047) using the most readily available parts, salvage and junkyard components, KG rebuilt the atlas out of his own pocket. The thing that made the Atlas special was it's designator, AS2-A; for it was the second atlas ever built and it's remains were that of a pure prototype, and as such lots of work had to be done to bring it up to frontline standards. Of course the 'mech because a true thing to be feared in it's first reconstruction as it sported more raw firepower then anything else being fielded anywhere in the inner sphere, and with a few years the clans first fielded. It is perhaps because of the aforementioned fact that the AS2-A along with it's pilot survived the destruction of the Nightskye Lancers at the hands of the Ghost Bears on Ashlain where the unit was being assigned to try and stem the tide of the at the time largely mystery attacks in 3053. The AS2-2 limped off planet with the shattered remains of the unit just three weeks after the unit arrived. While the unit was desperately attempting to rebuild, KG himself was reconstructing the Atlas that had treated him so well. Using some old connections in the DCMS KG got updated replacement parts and weapons for his atlas and it wasn't too long afterward that holovids got the career defining image of an Inner sphere atlas with heavy modifications backhanding a clan ghost bear gladiator hard enough to crumple the head section. This because the defined image that allowed the lancers to continue, though of course after a number of battles along side the forces of both the Rasalhague republic forces as well as the DCMS, the Lancers were finally virtually eliminated in mid 3057. But of course the Atlas and it's pilot survived, a wreck again, and now facing certain disgrace in the eyes of his peers, though the unit fought hard it was certainly expected for everyone to go down together... but the Clans failed to win, but they succeeded in wiping out most of the forces on the field that day except for the retrofitted atlas KG brought to the field, termed AS2-B, which again in a virtual mirror limped off the field this time holding the head module of the galaxy commander's 'mech in it's only functioning hand. The story didn't end there, as KG took an 'minor exodus out of the inner sphere looking for work in the periphery, and got employment with the NCR forces, then called the colonial marshals. The Leadership of the NCR at the time had painfully few assault machines and were glad to take on a veteran pilot with his own assault machine, even with the condition that he needed help fixing the said assault; and So the most recent version of the AS2 emerged. The AS2-C walked out of a 'mech bay on it's first test run in late 3064 and into the history books as the Oldest titan to walk and the second atlas ever made, not to mention the only original run atlas to still be functional. | Overview:
Tthis variant of the charger is little more then an upgrade on the popular version used by house liao, much like it's predacessor this Charger usually doesn't have to retreat because it's in danger of being destroyed, but rather because it's out of ammunition. The only alteration is the removal of the orignal twin SRM-6 launchers and ac/20 for installation of an newer LB 20-X AC autocannon and three Streak ARM-4 launchers along with CASE protection. Capabilities: This version of the CGR-IA5 charger uses an almost identical loadout but with two noteworthy exceptions as thIS CHARGER PORTS AN LB 20-x acutocannon instand of a standard and three streak SRM-4 missile systems instead of two SRM-6 launchers, the inclusion of case also in creases pilot and mech survivability. Deployment: Currently it is beleived that the 98th Ur-Cruine Rifles feilds three of these modified units. Battle History: Limited at best combat history exists for this battlemech. Variants: Being that this mech is a variant of a variant no sub-variants exist. Overview:
Originally any mech bearing the design code and name Savage was an improvised 'mech peiced together from verious mechs of similar tonnage give or take five tons. Often these peicemeal affairs were either lackluster successes or outright failures. With the arrival of the Jihad and the subsequent retreat of the 98th Ur-Cruine Rifles from NCR space by elements of the Word Of Blake, this tradition carried on, but it would not be until almost half a year before the Unit would come across a gold mine in assault mech's in bad need of repair and seeling for cheap. Upon the 98th's arrival on worrel the Unit was badly in need of replacement mechs parts and supplies as their three month retreat from the NCR had them traveling so far from inhabited systems that even a planet like worrel seemed like an advanced utopia in the Draconis Combine. While the unit was seeking food supplies the Colonel went about seeking replacement mechs and found it by speaking to the local garrison on planet who happened to know that the militai there was about to send a number of their chargers to the scrap heap in order to get more advanced but lighter mechs. Colonel Sahashi saw his chance to get the 98th some serious weight in their roster and procceded to broker a deal to buy the soon to be scrapped chargers along with encouraging a pilot or two to come along with the mercenary unit. In the end the 98th left Worrel not only with light salvage from a short battle with pursuing elements of the blakist force tracking them but six chargers to rebuild into functioning combat machines. Capabilities: The 'Savage' variant of the Charger design retains a fair amount of it's speed, but gains better armor protection double heat sinks, and the installation of improved weapons when the unit is used for either support or landing zone defence. Deployment: Currently it is known that the 98th Ur-Cruine Rifles feilds two of these units. Battle History: Limited at best combat history exists for this battlemech. Variants: Occasionally 98th technitions have bene known to remove the ERPPC for either a standard PPC or an extended range large laser. Overview:
Few know this design when they see it anf fewer still would beleive hot it came to be. Just before the Blakist invasion of the New Colony Region Detroint Mechworks was working on an entirely new 'mech design for mass production, it's very first Omnimech. This 'mech would never see completion on detroit because the prototypes were hurried off planet when it became plainly apparent that the planet would fall into blakist hands. Thes two prototypoes along with a plethora of production info supplies and essential gear was loaded up onto the NCRSS Geraldton and was floan off planet to a waiting jumpship at a pirate point in system. It was beleived the blakists had captured all that Detroit consolidated had to offer until they realized the bounty had escapded them. This leand to a full year's chase as the Blakist pursit forces chased after the geraldton as it joined up with the evacuating 98th UR-Cruine rifles and the story of the Confederate only began. It would be yet another year beofre the assembled techs in the 98th with surviving personnel from DCMW were to make the Confederate walk and function. Testing completed just weeks after Outreach was subjected to nuclear attack by the Blakists. It was then the Confedterate got rennamed in either memory or Vengeful intent as Colonel Sahashi of the 98th Rilfes when shown the Newly finished Confederates was quoted as saying. "This is a fine 'mech, with it we'll remind the Blakists of their Murder on outreach, It will be our own personal symbol of Vengance against the blakists so that tney never forget their crimes against Wolf's Dragoons." Strangely enough some 'mech sensors still mistake the Dragoon for a osirus until it starts pounding enemy targets. Capabilities: The Confederate/ Dragoon is a capable medium 'mech with a serious variety of weapons lodaouts that hail from all corners of the innersphere, there is even rumors of a stealth Suite version that uses the same stealth armor composites the Anubis uses. Deployment: Only three Of this 'mech are known to be functioning and are battle-ready, rumors indicate a possible fourth. It is known that 98th Pilots Seem to Prefer the Alternate S configuration for it's tough firepower and jump ability, more then one 98th pilot has used the jump ability to execute a 'flying Guillotine' attack Battle History: The dragoon most recently has seen a lot of action in the small world campaign where it's pilots hare notorious for using Death from above maneuvers, and Have a habit of hunting down the brass of blakist units; due to this the Dragoon is often referred to by blakists under a different designator "HHD-01 Head hunter" which stems from both it's success as a agressive eliminator of similar tonnage 'mechs and a lack of accurate data on the dragoon on the blakist's part. | Overview:
The Anarch is the result of the 98ths Rescue and escort operation with the survivors of the Blackwell corporation who escaped the destruction of Outreach and New Valencia. While the 98th has only feilded two of these assault mechs that is quite enough, as each Anarach as it's name suggests is the lord of the battle it is involved in. Capabilities: When the 98th reveiced several unifnished Imp battlemechs as thanks for their assistance in assuring the dependants of the blackwell corporation arrived safely in parts unknown, the unit's techs ere beyond battled as to what to do with the incomplete assault mechs. It would take three full months of brainstorming and design and redeisng to turn those unfinished chassises into combat worthy designs that would make more then one enemy flee theisr presence. The end result was the Anarch, an assault built with mass-engagement in mind, The cluster of Pulse lasers allows the Anarch to fend off mechs, vehicles and all sorts of infantry equally while the ER PPC allows the mech some bite at long range and the supporting LRM-5 packs grant the 'mech the ability to engage several targets with accurat emissile fire at range. Deployment: Only a handfull of these conversions are known to exist, all of them int he hands of the 98th Ur-cruine Rifles. Battle History: The Anarch has seen a number of battles since itt was fisrt deployed four months after Operation Reconstruction, most note worthy was the role of the anarchs in the battle for small world where the 'mechs distinctive Imp sillouette made more then one enemy pilot hesitate long enough for their mistake to be fatal.
