Wednesday Chevron reported that their offshore drilling operations hit the supposed jackpot with a find that could possibly yield 750,000 barrels of US crude oil per year or about 15% of last weeks US oil production which was about 5.03 million barrels. It is believed that perhaps, just perhaps this won�t have an effect for another 10 years or so however I have to ask if this is the case, why did gas prices drop sixty-five cents over the last seven days as of Friday the lowest gas price I've seen is 2.51 or so. Perhaps the oil companies like to toy with the consumers or maybe they knew something was up long in advance. Either way now this discovery has some major implications that are not making headlines, hardliners can in their ever so giddy way claim the world is not running out of oil, Oil goons can keep raping the common man's wallet and car makers can keep peddling their highway tanks to the general public. Oh did I mention now the average consumer can find an excuse not to change his or her ways, and instead go on being blind and clueless? This discovery isn't a cure it's a placebo to fool the patient into thinking the disease is gone.
