| Style: India Pale Ale The IPA style was invented in the 18th century to solve the problem of beer spoilage on long ocean voyages to the tropics. The high hop and alcohol levels were to preserve the beer as it travelled in oak casks in the holds of the clipper ships to India. 7 'C's IPA is made with 5 varieties of hops and 2 base malts that begin with the letter 'C'. It is dry-hopped at secondary fermentation and oak chips are added to simulate the flavor profile of extended storage in oak casks. Expect 7 'C's IPA to have a healthy hop aroma, a creamy white head, and a rich,full-bodied mouthfeel. |
