Installation:

Just unzip the package under your CFS/aircraft -directory, or unzip somewhere 
else and copy to the CFS/aircraft -directory.

Copy the three gauges in the planes root directory to your CFS\gauges -directory, 
they are the ammo counter gauges for MGs and cannon and a elevator trim gauge.

You will see 8 planes in your CFS, Both the "Black Tulip" and ANR version are available 
as the following variants:

1. Plain G-14: A pure fighter variant with the best handling, 1*MG151/20 + 2*MG131

2. G-14 "Jabo Rei": A fighter-bomber with center bomb rack and WFGR 21 rocket launchers, 
same fixed armament as plain. No sense in using this on the zone...

3. G-14/R6: The heavy fighter variant with added wing gondola MG151/20's, heavy handling too..
No visuals for the wing cannon gondolas, out of resources in AF99, sorry.

4. G-14/U4: Identical to #1 except the slow velocity MK108 as the center cannon with 65 shots. 
No effect on handling. 

Of course only #1 and #4 are plausible equipment levels for the "Black Tulip".

And if you wonder why the plane folder is named as Bf-109G5-G14, the reason is that this same model will
later have at least some G-6's added to it using the same basic components. Saves some disk space.

Pilot's notes:

The plane is only tested for 100% difficulty, I take no responsibility of it in "kids" settings.
It's performance as computer opponent is also unknown, as this is just about impossible to test 
within any accuracy. LOL, maybe the dreaded auto-follow cheat can be used for testing an AI plane!

There is a very strong swinging tendency to the left on takeoff. You have to control it from 
the very beginning of the takeoff run or you are in trouble.

G-14 is equipped with the DB-605AM engine that has 1310 hp rating for 30 minutes, and 1800 hp with 
MW-50 injection (WEP). CFS does not give long enough running time for the MW-50, so use it sparingly.
It will not burn the engine though.

Beware the very high dive speeds, or you get the "Messerschmitt rash" that usually is incurable :)

The spoiler key operates the upper radiator gills at the upper side of wing root trailing edge. 
They act as weak dive brakes, and take about 50 Km/h off the top speed. They work also visually.
Handy for slowing down on approach.

Flaps will not help you much on normal flight, they just eat your energy, use them only when landing.

Keep well above the stalling speed in the final approach, stall is fatal, and too easy to get.
After touchdown, full brakes can be applied withouth a danger of tipping over, but watch for the swing!



The Models:

The paintscheme of Hartmann's "Black Tulip" is highly fictious. There is only one incomplete photo
of it, that shows the left side of the fuselage around the cockpit. In addition to that there is a 
rough B&W profile in the book "German fighter ace Erich Hartmann". The latter source names the 
plane as G-14. 

The other paintscheme is made by Phil Mehard, and complements this "double Messerschmitt treat" very nicely, thanks Phil! 

Performance:

I have gotten this finally very close to the real one.

Top speed at 0m: 522 Km/h (correct value 520)

Top speed at 6300m: 630 Km/h (very close, the info about a real one is between 620 and 636 Km/h)

Climb rate: 20 m/s at deck, rising to 23 m/s at 3000m altitude and falling off after 6300m, using 
normal military power. Very close to the real, the only difference is that a real 109G using the 
1310 hp power had the peak climb rate of 23 m/s at 2500m, and the rate started to drop from there 
very slowly until 6300m, where the dropoff increased more rapidly. 

Turning capability: Real 109 had so stiff elevator at high speeds (over 500 Km/h) that it was 
impossible to pull much more than 4g with one hand, and at higher speeds even less. What is 
generally overlooked in this context, is the fact that the elevator trim (a large wheel on the 
left side of pilot's seat) was used actively, and it was possible to black out while using that 
method. CFS trim setting is so awkward to use that I compensated with increasing the elevator 
efficiency a little, so this 109 can pull just a little over 5g neutrally trimmed.

Energy loss at turns is correct on average, but there is some small deviation depending on the 
g pulled. Real 109G behaved this way:
A full coordinated turn withouth altitude loss took 18s at 1000m altitude, when the speed at the 
beginning was 450 Km/h IAS. The speed at the end of the turn was 330 Km/h IAS. A constant 3g turn was 
possible at the same altitude at the speed of 360 Km/h IAS with the bank angle being 70 degrees. 
The plane was flown with the maximum constant power of 1310 hp. 

Stall speed clean: 165 Km/h (should be between 170 and 165). Higher on "Jabo Rei" and R6.

Stall speed in landing configuration: 155 Km/h (145 reported for G-2, that is 150 Kg lighter)

Service ceiling is around 11500m as it should.

Real 109 started moving on a gravel runway at slightly over 800 rpm on engine. I got fairly close, 
you need around 890 rpm to set it moving.
