KG200 was formed early 1944 from several different units to test and evaluate captured enemy aircraft to help Luftwaffe pitols determine the capabilities of these planes. KG200 was also responsible for covert operations from France to Russia and Algeria. At one stage it was rumoured that they had up to 40 operation B-17's of various models and some B-24 Liberators. These B-17's would shadow formations reporting height, speed and direction to ground stations who would vector in fighters and assist flak operations. They would often stay parallel and out of range of the .50cal guns. Occasionally they would drop agents behind enemy lines and supply them later. Only one 1 ever captured intact from KG200 by American soldiers at the end of the war.
