We would like to welcome you and your child to third grade at T.C.P. World Academy. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of your child to the classroom. Your child will have the benefit of being taught by two professionally trained teachers this year. Many of you may already know Mrs. Fitch, as she has been a teacher at TCP World Academy for five years. Mrs. Peters was new to the school last year and is very excited to continue her adventure with your child. For more background information on both of us, please check out our classroom web page.
Third grade is a year of considerable growth academically and socially. The third grade program continues to develop the basic skills in all subject areas. We will encourage students to use concrete materials and their own experiences to make learning an increasingly meaningful process.
In third grade, students continue to discover and develop their own potential as human beings. We will strive to build an atmosphere of respect for oneself and recognition of the rights of others. Students will be encouraged to assume more responsibility for their own learning and for their belongings. Kindness, respect, and responsibility will be our theme for this year. Maintaining each child's self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will remain a priority in our classroom.
A "Parent Orientation Into Third Grade" has been planned for Thursday, August 18, 2005 from 5-7 pm. A flyer has been included with this letter for more information. It is vital that you make every effort to attend this meeting. It is in your child's best interest that you understand all the policies, procedures, and the curriculum within this classroom.
Finally, a lunch form application has been sent with this packet. The school must receive an application from EVERY student, regardless of qualification. Please return this form to the school office or your child's teacher as soon as possible.
