| May 31, 2004 Dear Parents, I would like to welcome you and your child to third grade at TCP World Academy. I am excited to say that I will be "looping" with my second grade class and will be teaching the same students for third grade. I believe this will create an added benefit for your child in that, we will be able to pick up right where we left off in second grade. I have grown to know each child quite well and will continue to work on each one's strengths and weaknesses. I will be updating this web page throughout the summer. I have designed it to be a tool for parents to stay in touch with their child's classroom activities. Taking note of the information contained within these pages will make procedures much easier for everyone. Be sure to check the site daily for homework and spelling words. I intend to load information onto this site daily during the upcoming school year. I trust that you will take advantage of this much needed and useful information. So much happens in third grade! Because of this, parents, as well as, students may have some apprehensions about what will happen. It is extremely important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes. Each child will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring skills as he/she is developmentally ready. Maintaining each child's self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority in our third grade. Here are some ways you can help: *Celebrate your child's success, no matter how small it may seem. This will keep your child enthusiastic about learning and proud of their work! *Check your child's homework daily! It is important that your child sees you modeling respect for the importance of homework and placing value on completing all assignments. *Read to and with your child everyday, if possible. The more your child is exposed to language, the easier it will be for him/her to incorporate new skills in reading and writing in the classroom. Please do not hesitate to call me during school hours, write a note, or email with ANY questions or concerns. Warmly, Mrs. Karen Fitch |
