Ranger 2950
Frequency Modification:
1.Remove the covers.
2.Locate "J2".  Behind the front panel.
3.Remove the jumper on pins P3 and P4.(J2)
4.Now you have coverage from 26MHz to 32MHz

Notes:
1.Some radios you will have to move J2 from pins P3 and P4 to P1 and P2.....Don't ask why?
2.After moving the jumper.  Press the reset CPU button.  Located under J2.
3.You may need to retune the VCO.
4.Now you can operated from 30MHz to 32Mhz.

Rumors:
Some have told me this radio can operated in the 6 meter (50MHz) band.  I have not yet found a mod to do this.  I think it's just a rumor.

CB Channel Readout:
1.Locate J1 .
2.There will be a jumper on pins P1 and P2.  To them to P2 and P3.
3.Press the lock button on the front panel.

Notes:
1.The radio will now read the CB channels along with the "A" channel.  This mod will keep the radio only in the CB band.
2.Press lock again and you will go back to the VFO mode.

CB Channel 9:
1.Locate J3.
2.Move J3 from pins P1 and P2 to P2 and P3.

Notes:
If you want the Rodger Beep off.  Make sure it's turned off before the mod.  Doing this mod will diable the control of the Rodger Beep!!!

AMC:
1.Adjust VR14 for maximum forward modulation.
2.Cut out Q32.

Notes:
1.Cutting out Q32, you disable VR12.
2.Cutting out Q32 disables the SSB viable power control.
3.I DO NOT reconmemd this modification to this radio.  I have tried it and it's very over modulated!

AM High Power:
1.Adjust VR13 for 12 watts dead key on high.
2.Adjust VR15 for 2 watts dead key on low.

Notes:
1.Power outputs are unbelieviable...12 watts will swing to 30 to 40 watts on AM!!!  2 watts will swing to 18 to 20 watts on AM!!!
2.Use a P.E.P. power meter.
3.If you are using an amp, DO NOT use this modification!  It WILL distroy your radio and amp!  I have seen it first hand!!!!
4.Use a power supply bigger than 10amps if you use this radio as a base.

SSB High Power:
1.Adjust VR12 for max PEP.
2.Back off, just alittle, on the front panel RF control.
3.Adjust VR16 at low setting on front panel until power is about 5 watts.

Notes:
1.You will see a swing from 40 to 50 watts on SSB!!!

Notice: This Radio is discontinued for the DX with 12m.
Personal Reconmendations:
Base Operations
:
1.Use a power supply greater than 10 amps.
2.Use a will grounded base antenna.
3.Use a D104, but have the gain no higher than 50%
.
Mobil Operation
s:
1.Connect the power of radio and amp DIRECTLY to the battery!
2.Use a Wilson antenna.  (Trucker series are the BEST!)
3.Use an MC60 microphone.  The one that comes with the radio is crap!
