| Ohio Sheltie Breeder - Ohio Sheltie Puppies |
| ***TERMS OF SALE*** Pets are strictly placed as family companions on spay/neuter contract AKC Limited Registration to approved homes only. I reserve the right to choose which home is best for the dog. I am a small hobby breeder and have puppies to offer on a limited basis - generally one to two litters a year. I specifically focus on: * Health * Temperament * Structure I breed for show quality but will not sacrifice for the health background in a dog. I obtain genetic clearances on my adult dogs for Hips (hip dysplasia) Eyes (CERF for eye problems) Von Willebrand's disease (blood clotting disorder) and thyroid. When you purchase a pet sheltie puppy from me, the puppy's papers are marked as AKC limited registration. This means that the puppy is from an AKC registered litter but is being registered as a pet only. The puppy must be spayed or neutered before you will receive those AKC papers. Upon proof of surgery, papers will be given to you. I do not require deposits until puppies have arrived and you have visited and selected your specific puppy. The deposit will be applied towards the full purchase price of the puppy. Puppies are born and raised in the home. They have dewclaws removed, age appropriate vaccinations and vet exam before leaving and have a 3 year genetic guarantee. |
| PLEASE NOTE Send an E-mail telling me what you are looking for, your name, location and contact phone number, your experience with dogs and a little about yourself/family and I will get back to you. I only sell my dogs/puppies to approved homes at my discretion. See further Terms below |
| Dog Breeding Philosophy Raising purebred dogs can be many things to many people. It can be a lifelong, overriding passion. I believe that breeding dogs is both an art and a science that one can spend one's entire life studying. It can be the pursuit of trying to produce "show dog perfection" (although there is no perfect dog) or simply receiving the reward of producing a loving companion. |

FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION BEFORE GETTING A PUPPY A puppy is one of the most appealing creatures on earth. He's the embodiment of exuberance, humor, affection and companionship. But there are a great many things that a puppy is not, and these negative aspects deserve some thought before you bring a puppy home. A puppy is not a toy to be enjoyed while he is a novelty, then set aside in favor of a new distraction; A puppy is not a teaching aide guaranteed to instill a sense of responsibility in children; A puppy is not cheap. Whether you pay a nominal fee at the city humane shelter or what seems to be a king's ransom for a really special pup, the money paid to make the pet yours is a mere drop in the bucket compared to what it will cost you to keep him; A puppy is not a spur-of-the moment purchase, or at least he shouldn't be; A puppy is not a gift unless the purchaser is certain that this particular pup will be wanted. A puupy needs to be trained/educated the same as a human baby. He cannot be just left to his own devices unless you are prepared to face a juvenile deliquent and unruly adult when he grows up. A puppy is not self-cleaning. There will be puddles on rugs, dog hair on clothing and furniture. There may be fleas, ticks, to be dealt with. It can mean some sleepless nights; the puppy needing attention even when you are exhausted from the cares of your day and when you feel you are dying of the flu but the puppy needs fed, pottyed and kept out of mischief. If these prospects are intolerable to the housekeeper of the family, then perhaps the pleasures of owning a puppy will be overshadowed by the tensions it will cause. A puppy is not an adult dog. He has neither the physical nor the mental ability to perform as an adult dog would; A puppy is not a puppy for long. Before you succumb to the charms of a puppy, be very sure you want not only the puppy he is now, but also the gangly, unattractive adolescent he is about to become, and the adult dog who may fall short of what you hoped he would be. If you've faced all the negative aspects of puppy ownership and still want him, chances are good that you and your new dog will be one of the lucky ones who finds a permanent happy home and you will enjoy the rewards of planned-parenthood dog ownership - rewards which will far over shadow the drawbacks. |
| As a buyer/home you are expected to provide a safe, healthy loving home for the dog you are entrusted with. Regardless of price, pet or show quality, a dog is a precious life, and not a possession, that deserves a home with caring responsible owners.
As a breeder, I am looking to place my dogs only in homes that will provide the best quality of life for the dogs I have dedicated so much of my life to. I reserve the right to decide which homes I place my dogs into. |
