Yield
- Yield is the key selection factor that KLG animals are assessed through.
- This emphasis is maintained through the selection of animals that have exceptional top-line thickness, volume and depth of rump.
- Through this emphasis we are confident that the carcase qualities of the limousin breed will be advanced through our breeding program
- We are also confident that our yield centered selection approach will guarnatee that our clients will be rewarded for utilising Keystone Genetics in their programs through the popularity and premium gained for animals with high yielding carcases attributes.
Commercial Emphasis
- Following our commercial background, we are aiming to breed our stud cattle with a strong emphasis upon commercially relevant traits.
- Cattle are bred to be structurally correct, moderate framed, early maturing and quiet.
- The extremes of the show ring are avoided and show ring performances are felt to be secondary to the commercial performance of our cattle.
KLG Stud Selection Criteria
Management
- Keystone animals are managed under conditions that emulate that of commercial production.
- Supplementary feeding is restricted to levels that allow animals to express their genetic potential, but that in no way endanger the reproductive and mobility functions of the animal.
