About Rotary
Rotary is an organization of business and professional
leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service,
encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help
build goodwill and peace in the world. In more than 160
countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians
belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs.
Object of Rotary
The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service
as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage
and foster:
FIRST:
The development of acquaintance as an opportunity
for service.
SECOND:
High ethical standards in business and professions,
the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the
dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation to serve society.
THIRD:
The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's
personal, business, and community life.
FOURTH:
The advancement of international understanding, goodwill,
and peace through a world fellowship of businesses and professional
persons united in the ideal of service.
Past Accomplishments & Community Involvement
- Raise over $15,000 annually for community and international
projects.
- Support the Porterville College's Smart Lab which teaches
elementary students about science in a mobile lab.
- Participate in the Springville Apple Festival and Porterville
Iris Festival to promote club awareness and raise funds for community
projects.
- Auction new Harley-Davidson motorcycle through selling raffle
tickets.
- Sponsor 6 high school students to attend Camp Royale leadership
camp.
- Co-sponsor annual Christmas Tree Auction to raise funds for other
non-profit organizations.
- Was awarded the International Presidential Distinguished Club
award for the year 2001-02. One of only 3,000 clubs among 30,000 worldwide
to be presented this award.

Sponsor Interact service club for students at Porterville High School.
- Award numerous scholarships to high school students and Porterville
college students.
- Sponsor Red Ribbon Week for Springville Elementary School.
- Major donor to the Police Activities League program.
- Participate in a wheelchair and used eye glass program which
are re-distributed to needy people in foreign countries.
