Introduction to Trakanon’s Teeth.

Trakanon is a zone like no other in Norrath. It is a huge swampish like zone with a lake in it’s center. It has mobs of many different types and levels. Normal Frogloks, Dinosaurs, Sabertooths (kittys), Spectrals, Mantraps (flowers), and Cockatrices (chickens) can all be hunted here with a full group from about 35-45 with decent exp gains (lvl 40 goes by decently here). Pulling however can be a pain since the over-abundance of mobs makes singles very difficult to pull. Groups in the 35-41ish range should stick mostly with Frogs, Dinos, and kittys. The Flowers, chickens, and specs all hit pretty hard and fast, and give the same exp, so aren’t worth the increased downtimes. The most notable mobs in the zone are The Froglok Hunter and Froglok Forager. They are what separates TT from any other zone in EQ. The 2 pieces of the Medalions needed for the key to Old Sebilis are found on them and both mobs are Instant Spawns, the moment you kill one another spawns. The other thing that separates them from other mobs is that in most zones a “common” mob is a PH for a rare mob however with these two they each have about 13 different rare mobs that can spawn in their place. About half of these rare mobs drop a loot item (many items no drop) and they always drop that item. There are no rare drops in TT except for spells (seen one drop in at least 400 hours of hunting in TT). Sometimes while hunting these two you may not get an immediate new spawn on track which means one of several possibilities has occurred – 1. They spawned a bit out of tracking range. This is the most common and with in about 2 minutes they should have roamed back into range. 2. They spawned down by the city ruins and are now lost. When this happens it’s a total pain because you have to run all the way down towards seb to grab them and then pull them back to your group. During this pull you must move slow because they both tend to get lost a lot and you will end up with numerous adds. 3. The hunter bugged out. Usually this happens right after killing one of his named. He simply doesn’t pop anymore nor do any of his rares, the only way to fix it is to petition and have a GM repop the zone. I have heard this was fixed in a patch and I myself have never had it happen instead what you end up with are 2 hunters one forager which is bad because it seems to lead to them popping down by seb all night long =\. One thing I’d like to add if you camp the whole named loot /ooc the locs of hunter and forager many people are only there for either their seb key or the bow that drops on both of them. The medallions are useless except for the key and the bow is ND.

Hunting for experience.

The best spot to set up to hunt for experience is the Swamp of No Hope tunnel. It’s got a fairly large open area to hunt in and numerous roamers pass near it so it’s easier to pull singles. The Emerald Jungle on the other hand does have a slightly larger open area but few roamers pass close and it has two ruins to the left and right of it that are filled with Specs and can create unwanted adds. The mobs that are close to the zone lines are all reasonably safe to pull for a group in the 35-41 range. Further away towards the City ruins you will start finding Froglok Wans and Yuns, Bloodthorns (flower), Petrifiers (chicken), and undead keepers all of which are generally in the 40-43 level range and are a bit tougher for a low group to deal with. If your group is all 40 plus you can follow the zone wall around to the huge wall that marks the entrance to the city ruins and camp near there.

Hunting the Froglok Forger.

The forager tends to be the preferred of the 2 to hunt because of the drops off his rares. He is also the most farmed because the Iksar Ceremonial Chestplate drops off Zoglic on his table and Druids try to sell this for around 10k. (Disclaimer: It is most often farmed by dr00ds and they often get stuck with it for a while because it’s useless to any high level player that can afford 10k except for a twink. It’s regen ain’t that great, the ac is only 19 and it looks like banded when worn). The best spot to camp forager is where the stream meets the lake. Simply follow the stream from Swamp zone until you reach the lake and set up shop there. Given long enough the forager will actually wander past that area (If he’s not lost down near seb). This is also the best spot if your hunting the whole named loop because the forager tends to roam the left side of the stream and the hunter will wander the ride side.

Hunting the Froglok Hunter.

The best place to set up for the hunter is at the Emerald Jungle. He tends to roam the area between zone and south to the lake and it avoids problems with the group hunting the forager. The nice thing about the Hunter is that he’s rarely farmed (no uber lewts like the chestplate and Doom is on his table). If he’s camped it’s normally because someone is hunting for seb keys. Lately though I spend more time on the hunter then forager. The one downside to the hunter is Doom. Doom is a lvl 55 skeleton that can rip through a whole group of people under level 50. The upside is that he does have some nice drops.

How to get to Old Sebilis.

A. From an EJ evac. (Blue line) This is the way most will use to make it to Seb. It’s fairly simple. After zone in turn left and follow the zon wall (on the ground, if you are on the wall you will fall off a lot) until you run into a man-made (errr lizard made) wall blocking your path. Cut through the arch in the pillar deal then through the arch in the wall. You will see the foundation to the old city ruins from the entrance in the wall cut a diagonal right and head towards it, if you head straight for it you may run past a couple of Spectrals which will be annoying. They’re not always up but just be safe and head rightish to the platform/foundation. Follow the foundation around to the right until you reach a broken pillar lying across the edge of the platform. Turn left take a few steps then turn left again through the arch entrance in the wall, turn right and from there you will see the ramp heading to the Orb. I have added the broken pillar to the map above remember the broken pillar!

B. From swamp of No Hope. (Red line). Follow the stream from the swamp zone line to the lake, which is about center of zone. Turn right when you reach the lake and follow the Lake around till you see the huge arch pillar deal. Follow the arch pillar thing until you hit the wall and go through the entrance in the wall.

The Key to Old Sebilis Quest.

For those looking for your seb keys the quest is simple. Loot a medallion off each of the Forager and Hunter, get an ITU and head to the graveyard and turn them into Emperor Ganak. If you follow the zone wall around to the right (facing AWAY from the zone ent) from either EJ or Swamp you will pass a tall ramp then reach the Graveyard. I suggest ITU because after turning in your key about 15-20 more specs spawns and while they are probably green to you can be annoying. At the gy there are 2 entrances into the zonewall, the first is a staircase and the second a ramp. Take the stairs up then down the ramp inside the zone wall and you’ll find Ganak. He’s non aggro so you’re safe. He’s also a lvl 60 quest mob so he’s unkillable. If you down accidently whack him simply run away, he doesn’t follow and once your out of spell range your safe.

The map included here is not mine I ganked it from EQ Atlas the best map site out there. Yes I know Muse doesn’t like people doing this but I needed to alter it slightly for this guide.

This is still a work in progress, especially the spawn table so please don’t write me telling me it’s not done. I know it’s not done.
