PARABLES OF THE TALENTS AND
THE POUNDS
Summary: cont.
CONCLUSION:
While these are Scriptural truths, that
we can see,
there will be times when these truths
may escape us.
We are sinful creatures,
falling in Adam.
Deep rooted within us, is the natural
tendencies,
to live our lives according to merits
and demerits;
by the principle of Good and Bad.
This makes it ever so difficult to see
the Grace of God in the fullest.
Then there is the old man; pride that is
lurking in our hearts,
waiting to be awakend by the emphasis
on the principle of Works.
Satan is also there putting doubt in our
minds,
to doubt the Word of God, and His promises,
and to rely on ourselves.
We find the consolation in the words of
the
Apostle Paul:
“O wretched
man that I am!
who shall deliver
me from the body of this death?
I thank
God through Jesus Christ our Lord;
So then with
the mind I myself serve the law of God;
but with the
flesh the law of sin.”
Romans 7:24
The Greek word for wretched
is talaiporos.
It is very important that you understand
the meaning of this word.
Tala, comes from the word
talanton.
It is the same word used in the Parable
of the Talent.
It is to measure something. The
word iporos is a trial or a testing.
This word is the conclusion of what the
Apostle Paul
went through in Romans 7:15-23.
He tried so hard
to please God, by trying to do good,
but he end up doing the opposite.
He tried not to sin,
but he end up sinning again and again.
The more he tried, the more he failed.
He realized that there is lurking in his
flesh the old man, sin,
ready to dominate him under the law of
trying to do good.
In the final analysis
of this trial of failure,
he says; “I have come to realize that
I am a wretched man.
It was through the trials of failure,
and the final conclusion,
that it is futile to please God by trying.
This is the measure (talanton)
by this trial (iporos)
that I have a body of death.
A body that can not do anything to please
God,
for there is SIN in me that comes out
everytime I try.
Who shall deliver me from it.
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord,
so then with the mind (spirit)
I myself serve the law of God;
but with the flesh (my desires)
the law of sin.
The problem with all of
us,
is that while we admit
that we all sinners,
many do not recognize
that we are helpless sinners,
and do not conclude finally,
that we are wretched
through and through.
After much experience
in failure by trying,
we too should know that we of ourselves
are hopeless, helpless,
and a proud human race.
The answer is in the Cross of Christ,
and the Grace that is shown there.
Growing in knowledge of the Word of God,
rightly divided,
will bring us to our knees,
and thank and praise God that He loves
us eternally,
and that it is finished.
For salvation and sanctification.
It is from faith to faith only by the
Grace of God.
The student of the Bible,
should understand that the Word of God,
is to enlighten the Christian,
to know the spiritual things of God and
of God Himself.
To know the Grace (love) of God,
the Holiness (truth) of God,
and the Power (life) of God.
These 3 things are
the attributes and character of God.
These 3 things are
the
Glory of God,
that was displayed on the Cross of Christ.
Knowing the deeper meaning of the Cross
of Christ,
is knowing the Attributes and the Character,
which is the Glory of God. Having
the Glory of God in you,
is having the character of God.
It is having the full gospel of God, in
you,
through faith in the knowledge of the
death,
burial, and resurrection, of the Lord
in your heart.
We must begin with the Cross,
and truly understand the deeper meaning
of His death.
We must know our death with Him, that
the Resurrected Life,
of our Lord Jesus Christ shines forth
from us to the world.
This is the evidence and the reality of
God,
shining forth in our lives,
for the world to see the only true God
and Jesus Christ.
This then is the language
that we speak in an unknown tongue,
not with words, from our lips, but by
His Life in our walk.
This is the life, that the world does
not understand,
until they come to the saving knowledge
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This life is also not quite clear to the
Christian, who emphasizes works,
of what I must do for God.
It is all done in Christ.
On the Cross He said:
"I T
I S F I N I S H E D"
