Relationship of The Head
and The Body
INTRODUCTION:
The relationship
of the head and the body are presented many times
and in many different ways in the Scriptures.
In 1Cor. 11:3 Paul says,
"I
would have you to know,
that the head
of every man is Christ
and the head
of every woman is the man,
and the head
of Christ is God."
1. The head of every man
is Christ.
How do we make Christ our head in our
daily lives?
By making the Word of God our authority.
We must listen to the Word of God or Christ
is not our head.
When we are obedient to the Word of God
we are obedient to Christ.
When the Word of God is the sole authority
in our lives,
Christ is the head.
But
we must understand and rightly divide the Word of God.
It is to know the spiritual meaning of
the Word that is important.
Knowing the literal meaning is not enough.
We do many things literally but we must
understand why we are doing it.
We must know the spiritual meaning.
God is Spirit and Jesus came and
made it possible
for the Holy Spirit to come and teach
us
spiritual things of God.
Jesus said
“if I go not
away the comforter will not come unto you,
but if I depart
I will send Him unto you.”
(Joh. 16:7)
2. The head of every woman
is the man.
The woman should be obedient to the man
according to the Word of God.
The man should love the woman and should
love her as he loves his own body,
and should give himself for her, in his
daily living,
as Christ loved the Church and gave himself
for it.
3. The head of Christ is God.
Christ knows this and was obedient to
God,
even unto death.
The parts of a person.
The head and the body:
(1) The head:
The spirit, mind, intellect,
thoughts.
The mind is where our intellect,
thoughts and reasoning comes from.
(2) The body:
The soul, heart, will, emotions,
desires.
The heart is where our motive, desires
and feelings comes from.
A person
that
is alive physically,
and though his brain is dead, and his
heart continues to beat,
he is said to be brain dead.
The unbelievers are
brain dead in the spiritually sense.
They are dead toward God and the spiritual
realm,
but his soul (heart) is alive toward
this world.
We can say he is soulish, and lives only
for his own self.
When
he is concerned about God,
he worships by his emotions and by his
feelings for God.
He is spiritually dead and does not understand
spiritual things.
He lives by his soul
and worships by his emotions.
The heart:
This is where the motives, desires, will
and intent comes from.
The flesh: This is the desire of the heart
which becomes sinful under the law.
"For when
we were in the flesh, the motions of sins,
which were
by the law,
did work in
our members to bring forth fruit unto death."
(Rom. 7:5).
The Bible says:
"For
as he thinketh in his heart so is he."
(Pro.23:7)
This
does not mean that the heart has a brain or a mind of it own.
His mind is being
controlled by his heart,
and the mind is moving the body to do
what the heart desires.
This is why we see many people doing drugs,
although they know the danger of it.
but his mind is controlled by his sinful
desires,
that comes from the heart.
The urge is so strong,
that the sinful desire of the flesh
controls the sensibleness of his mind,
and he succumbs to a bad and harmful habit.
God's
Words should be going in
from the mind to the person's
heart,
that the heart's desire is controlled
by the person's mind,
that is filled with the Word of God.
But if Satan's words reaches his heart,
he will act like a little god, doing his
own will,
apart from God's Word.
The persons heart will control his mind,
and the mind will do the bidden of the
heart's desire.
Gods Way,
is a person's head (spirit) should be the authority.
The body (soul) should be in subjection
to the head.
The head is in relationship to the thoughts,
mind and the spirit of the person.
The body is in relationship to the desire
(flesh), feelings and soul of the person.
When the person walks by faith, by his
spirit, by his mind,
by knowing and not by his flesh (desires),
or his soul, emotions and by feelings,
then his mind and his heart is filled with
the Word of God.
Gods way is to fill one's mind
with the Word of God, rightly divided,
that we have the mind of Christ and He
becomes the head of our lives in our behavior,
that our soul is subjected to the spirit
of the person.
We
fill our minds with the Word of God, that our minds be strong,
and quench all the accusations and doubts
that Satan shoots, as fiery darts into our minds.
This is to protect
the soul from listening to the words of Satan,
and to take the initiative and become
the head.
When the soul is the authority in the
person, the person will behave by his emotions,
and walk by how he feels and SIN will
have dominion in his life
(Rom. 6:14).
Gods Way
is that
the soul should be in subjection to the
spirit of the person,
and the body be in subjection to the head,
and the woman should be in subjection
to the man,
and the church be in subjection to Christ.
We walk by his Grace not by works,
by faith not by the law by knowing not
by feelings,
by trusting, not by trying, by resting,
not by striving.
In this world,
more and more the woman is taking the
authority over the man
and a place of equality in positions and
in voice.
The woman
is not less than a man nor is she less important,
but she should be obedient to the Word
of God and be in subjection to the man.
She is very important but she has her
part that God has given her.
The head of the man is Christ.
Think of the evil in a man's heart if
he should think that he is equal to Christ,
and he should be allowed to make decisions
on his own
and even overrule Christ at times.
That is what is happening
to many churches today.
to the local body of Christ.
When a church allows different doctrines
to creep in,
and disregards the authority of God's
Word,
the church has become the head.
When one feels that this is not
wrong,
and brings in men's policies, doctrines,
commandments and traditions into the church,
the church has taken the place of authority,
and becomes the head.
In the
Old Testament,
God called the Israel nation
a stiff-necked people.
God called them such, because they did
not listen to God and his Word.
The neck is between the head and the body,
and depicts the relationship between Christ
(head) and the church (body).
When
a person has a stiff neck, he cannot move his head freely without pain.
His head is controlled and moved by his
body.
If he wants to look to the right he must
move his head by moving his body,
thus the body is controlling the head.
He looks awkward and is noticeable by
others.
When we go by how we feel, and by what
is right and wrong,
we put ourselves under the law.
We are dominated by our flesh and our
desires become sinful
(Rom. 6:14; 7:5)
.
Our soul is in control
and we are stiff-necked,
and we look awkward and religious and
a holier than thou attitude.
