The Wall Of Ice

Music by  Enya(??checking this), entitled Evening Falls

Contained within this solid wall,

I stand frozen, unable to move.

You have placed me here, knowingly,

And you walked away without looking back.

I am the fool behind this wall,

Reaching out to you, touching only ice.

Piercing your own wall, but all too briefly,

Hoping to touch your heart, as you touched mine.

I wear the hat of many colors now,

It weaves a rainbow, which reminds me of you.

Each color is a memory, each memory is bittersweet,

Leaving only a taste of tears as they fall upon my lips.

One learns a lesson from one’s sadness,

Look among the crumbled pieces lying scattered on the ground.

If you pick each one up, and touch it to your heart,

You can melt the wall of ice.

But my friend…as you melt away the ice,

You will sadly find…

Your heart will never be --

Quite the same again.
