Driving and Performance
(The fun part)
When I picked up the car from the exhaust shop the fuel gauge had been on E for 100kms so it must have been running on the smell of an oily rag.  I babied it to the servo and put some Ultimate 98 in it.  I paid and pulled out of the servo slowly in first gear and then planted my foot.  It roared and almost straight away it was doing about 7500rpm.  I thought, geez first gear doesn't go very fast because I was only going about 20kph,  Then i noticed the blue smoke coming from the front wheels and the black lines i had painted on the road.  I grabbed 2nd and put two more black lines on the road.  It finally gripped and i kept it floored until i was doing about 140kph (in a 60 zone).  I didn't care about the police, this was too much fun.  The old engine would spin like that, but only if it had been raining, I couldn't believe the acceleration of it.

I haven't taken it to a drag strip but it's much much faster than dad's VT V6.  I think 15.5 shouldn't be too hard to achieve.  The old motor did 0 - 100 in about 13seconds, the blacktop does it in about 7.5 - 8.

This may not sound like blistering performance if you own a wrx or skyline or something, but there is barely a 1.6L NA engine that will keep up in a straight line.  Honda integra Type R's are faster but they have a 1.8 or 2.0 (i can't remember which)  It craps all over commodores and falcons, excells and lancers can't even come close.  I raced a '98 excell and I was changing gears at 6000rpm, way before redline, and I still comfortably won.

Soon I will put it on a dyno and i will put the graph up on the web when i get it,
also i will take it the the drags to get some official times.

It is 10 times easier to drive than the old motor and the fuel economy is unbelivable,  I can get 600km off 30L on the highway and around 500km flogging it around the city.

This is the only modification to my car, it has standard wheels and suspension so it is a total sleeper, only the exhaust tip gives it away

If your trying to decide between GZE and 20v, don't think the 20v isn't fast because it's not supercharged.  A stock GZE would be me off the mark but as soon as the vvt kicks in it would keep up.  If all you ever want out of your car is traffic light drag performance then get a GZE, but if it also has to be your daily driver get a 20v because they are much more driver friendly, and to get the performance all you have to do is go back a gear to get the engine on cam.
Also you can spend the money you save becasue you don't need an engineers report on an alarm or stereo.
