Kylar is the only child of Bronzerider J'dar and Master DragonHealer Kylora. She was born at Fort Weyr. Tensions between her and her father increased as she grew older, and Kylar looked for any excuse to get out of Fort and away from him. Her mother also tired of the abuse Kylar recieved, and so one day she packed her things, took Kylar, and left for Telgar. Kylar followed in her mother's footsteps, apprenticing to her and walking the tables to recieve Journeyrank as a DragonHealer. It was during this time that a relationship with her childhood friend from Fort, T'ron, blossomed. She was Searched, however, shortly after she achieved Journeyrank, and Impressed the green Ameth. She remained at Telgar for a turn, until Ameth was old enough, and recieved a transfer to Fort. This was a mixed blessing, as it allowed her to weyrmate with T'ron, but also required dealing with her father. This was not to be much of a problem, however, as not long after the transfer, T'ron was killed in a tragic accident, and Kylar, in her grief, disappeared. No one was sure where she went, until she turned up at Ierne Island a seven-day later. She remained at Ierne WeyrHold for almost ten turns, then transfered to High Reaches Weyr when the lack of anything to exercise her Healer training brought her to boredom. After a few turns at Reaches, Kylar lost her weyrmate and contemplated leaving to get away from the memories. She had made up her mind to leave when her weyrmate mysteriously reappeared, but things had changed too much to stay together. So Kylar left for Western Weyr, the home of the father of her first child, where she flew with the Search and Rescue wing, and even took a turn at Weyrsecond for a time. Eventually, though, her increasing age demanded she take a break, and she resigned from her position as Weyrsecond--and as a rider for Western Weyr. She remains on good terms with the Weyrstaff, however, and keeps a private weyr there for visits. She has turned her attention to the failing Dragonhealer Craft, and has been promoted to Master in charge of getting it back on its feet.
Kylar, as a dragonrider, has had many loves. Some she cared deeply for, others were there for the sexual pleasure. One, however, touched her heart. He was a fellow greenrider. His name was T'burk. It was a chance meeting many Turns back that had brought them together, and they remained close friends for turns. Then, one day, while relaxing in the sun of Ierne, and feeling a bit frustrated, Kylar and T'burk found that there was a bit more than friendship. Things did not progress far that day, however, as this was a very new experience for T'burk, whose previous loves had been male. The feelings between them deepened, however, and they soon found themselves in each other's arms again, and this time something happened. Nine months later, little Kyburk was born. Although his relationship with Kylar caused tension between him and his weyrmate, T'burk made time for his son. Kylar and T'burk continue to share a deep and profound love, but Kylar accepts that she and T'burk will never truly be together. Once she moved to High Reaches, a place that holds many bad memories for her beloved T'burk, Kylar saw little of him. His love, however, was strong enough to overcome even bad memories, and he made an effort to visit her there. Little Kyburk has grown into a fine young man, and is now know as K'urk, with his own dragon, blue Daoth. About a turn or so after moving to High Reaches, Kylar met and became close friends with Sh'n, a bronzerider recently transferred in. They became extremely close, and when Ameth flew, Sh'n's Aokith caught her. The two were weyrmated, and Kylar soon found herself pregnant again. She gave birth to twins, Sharla and Kaylana. Unfortunately, before the twins were even a year old, their father went missing. No trace could be found of him or his dragon, so he was presumed dead. Kylar coped with this loss of love as best she could. A little less than a turn later, Sh'n resurfaced, apparantly having suffered some kind of attack. Kylar was finally starting to get used to not having Sh'n around and the two of them agreed that it would be best if they did not get back together. After a while, Kylar transferred to Western Weyr to be nearer T'burk, and to keep their son from having to be passed back and forth. The twins are now grown and are beginning to chose their own paths. Kylar is happier than she's ever been, 'mated and always near her first and dearest love.
Besides her dragon, who really does not qualify as a pet anyway, Kylar has two firelizards: green Asha and brown Drumheller.
Kylar is about 48 turns old and stands about 5'8" tall. She has short-cropped black hair and ice blue eyes.
