I came across a 'washer toss' website that is fairly professionally put together. They offer up a history, rules and washer boxes and washers. I checked out the contacts page and felt compelled to email the president in an attempt to help them improve their game. I mean...the boxes are Plastic!....they throw 2 washers only! Unbelievable! Anywhooo here is a copy of the email I sent. No response yet.
"Hello! Love the website. The more that the love of washoos is spread around the better.
From years of trial and error with the game of washoos and many, many organized tournaments may I humbly suggest some rule changes to experiment with. I believe they add a lot of excitment.
1) throw 4 washers each...more hits in the box = more fun
2) we use a box distance of 17 feet ... but you throw 3 inchers and we throw 1.75 inchers...so I'd have to experiment with the larger washers to see if that distance would change hit percentages
3) getting 21 exactly: The 'Chan' Rule - if 21 is the winning total, then in order to win a team must score 21 points without going over. If at the completion of an end, a team ends up with points that total over 21, these points are then subtracted from their current score. For example, If Player 'A' has 19 points and at the completion of an end scores 4 points, they have gone over the winning total of 21 (19+4=23). Therefore, the 4 points are subtracted from their score and they will then have 15 points total (19-4=15). The next end will begin with Player 'A' throwing first since they were the player that received or lost points in the last end.
Try it out. The last rule makes it very exciting at the end. It also makes 'come backs' easier.
All the best,
Kevin Shonk

I feel I was helpful and showed restraint.
