| Planet Pop Interview 8.10.00 This is an interview which is being held over the next couple of weeks. So the boys are sitting in a row wearing the same clothes as in the Live & Kicking interview. The Interviewer is Racheal. Racheal: So you guys have sold over 35 million records, dominated the charts in over 45 different countries but first i wanna start with the basics and get back to the very beginning...... (shows footage of them performing from the Backstreets Back Tour) can u remind us all how u first met, got together. Howie: Ok..um...AJ & myself met each other back almost 10yrs now and we used to bump into each other all the time at different auditions along with Nicky from Tampa and um..we found Kevin shortly after that... about 6months after..we got him to join the group. and after searching around Orlando for a 5th member for a while Kevin suggested about calling up his cousin Brian from Kentucky and had him come down in '93. |
| Brian: April 20th '93 Howie: Yeah April 20th '93 AJ: He walked up to the door and said "Howdy y'all i'm Brian" and then he went back and we all sang a couple of acappellas together and it just jope(?) |
| (cuts to footage of the 'I'll never break your heart' first video) Kevin: First big performance we ever did.....we did, uh, grad night at Seaworld and we been together what 2 weeks? (others: uhumm) there was like 5 thousand people there and we just came off stage and we were like WOW!! (cuts to footage of 'Quit playing games' video) Racheal: Well out of all the videos I have to say that there is one thing that is completely consistant and that is the fact that your always wearing shades in them all (they all laugh at her & i dont blame them.how old is that!!) can u tell me about that? AJ: One of our previous managers told me , u know, try something different, try something that seprates you a little bit from the other guys, why dont u throw on a pair of sunglasses. So i hoped into the wardrobe and grabbed a pair of sunglasses and it just kinda stuck u know. and fans started getting me sunglasses and all kinds of stuff. It just kinda became (Kevin: your trademark)my trademark. (cuts to Planet Pop live performance from last year of 'I want it that way') Racheal: Is there anything you would go back and change if you could do that? |
| Brian: Your living the best years of your life, you know, your on the go,....you wanna be a success...u know a successful group but you look back and try to slow down and your like whoooo. some things went wrong and we're past all that and we're looking forward.......we've always kept looking towards the future. |
