| LK Today 25.9.02 Lorraine: I have got so many mails, telephone calls, stuff like for and it' all for Nick Carter, and it's lovely to see you Nick: Thanks Lorraine: Really good.......Most of the people are worried, they're concerned because they're saying your out on your own. So does that mean goodbye to the Backstreet Boys? your still together? you better clear that up... Nick: I'm still here i'm doing my stuff with them, uh but i mean i've been doing my stuffwith them. uh but i mean i've been doing it, i've been with them for 10yrs Lorraine: 10 years!! Nick: Yeah i was with them since i was 12 years old. I'm 22 now so um now i think it's just time to try something new,(L: sure) experience something new in my life. I've always wanted to sing and write music by myself so i finally got a chance to do it. Lorraine: Right your all doing your own individual things but basically your still together and your coming back together. That's good, it's just cos people were worried that's all. We had to clear that up. Was it strange though by yourself in the studio, by yourself performing. was it different without the rest of them about you? Nick: No, it was a little different cos i've been doing it for so long with them. It was so exciting to get in the studio, like it was so different but at the same time so fun and everything. Alot of things came outta it. Allotta good things came out of it, you kow, I changed into a better person because of it. I feel like i have so......... Lorraine: Good, Good for you. and also the whole key to staying around in this business is to write your own stuff isn't it and then what you've done done aswell? Nick: Yeah. I still don't claim to be the best writer around. To this day i'm learning every single day even though i've been in this business for a while now. so i opened my mind, my minds open to learn things. I've started to pick up a guitar, started to even learn how to write even more. I'm keeping my ears open and just learning new stuff so hopefully that'll make me a better artistfor the future. Lorraine: It's astonishing to think your a vetern of the pop world, your only 22. Your still a baby! Nick: I'm still a baby (laughs) Lorraine: You've still got so much time ahead of you, that's why it's really good to branch out and do other things. Don't you think it'll probably make the band better aswell? Nick: Yeah im a way, i mean in the right. What i'm trying to do is maybe bring a new audience to the band, actually bring a little more experience to the band on my end or to anything i do. I know i think right now what this is about is making me an individual as a person and finding myself too. So i can be a better person on anything i do. You know i'm havig fun doing it too so its great! Lorraine: Good for you. Thats what it's all about after 10years the danger would be to ge jaded by it all but you clearly aren't. So what is it? Is it just the passion for the music? Nick: I love music......i'm a freak for it (laughs) I'm a freak for the music and i love it. uh just to be involved to be able to still do it and have fun while i'm doing it. Making so many people happy. It's what entertainment is all about. It's about making people happy. Lorraine: It runs in the family of course beacause you wee baby brother, who's even more of a baby than you, he's in the music business aswell.....(shows a pic of Aaron & Nick together) there he is..and he's doing really well too. That's fantastic, cos he can see what you can do, he can follow, you can help him, steer him in the right direction. Nick: I can help him (laughs) Lorraine: You can....Your gonna sing live.....not many people sing live these days. Why's that so important to you Nick: Cos i sang live when i was with the boys. We always sang live. It's just something i love to do. They...people don't sing that much live?? Lorraine: Not really. You know most of them just the goldfish..do the old..... Nick: Oh yeah? Lorraine: Oh yeah, especially this time in the morning Nick: I don't know why, i guess i always grew up singing live. If you crack you crack. If you mess up, you mess up, but at the same time its live and your giving it your all. Lorraine: Well it's really good to see you. You've made loads......you should just say hello to everybody. I can't go through absolutely everybody, but just to absolutely everyone..... Nick: Hey (laughs goes towards camera) Thank you gimme a big hug! Lorraine: Well we're gonna hear you singing live like you said. This is Nick Carter with his debut solo single. It's called Help Me and it's out on Monday. Oct 7th.
