The reason the MAHA was founded was to generate the interest of players in the state of Michigan. July 10th, witnessed the achievement of this goal as the first ever MAHA Tournament took place. The tournament saw about 15-20 people show up, 8 of which choosing to compete in the tournament, as the others watched. It was a double elimination tournament with matches in the winners bracket being best of 5 and matches in the losers bracket only 1 game. The obvious reason for this was the fact that Vans was not yet sponsoring the tournament and the tables were not allowed to be put on free play. With that the competitors were willing to keep the double elimination tournament and play with a 1 game match in the losers bracket as to not pay more then $5 and to guarantee the top finisher some cash. The tournament saw some great competition and the MAHA will only see the interest of players in the state grow more and more!
