Democracy
I feel that democracy is the best forum of government that is available. There are a few reasons I feel a democracy is the best choice for a government. The first and most obvious would be that in a democracy you do not have to worry about one human being making a decision for the whole nation with no one else’s opinion. This is one of the good things in a democracy since a law or decision is run through multiple parts of the government, and needs to at least have a majority rule for that law or decision to take place or for it to happen and become real. One of the other positive things in a democracy is that the head person in the government can be removed if he or she is not doing a satisfactory job in the eyes of the people. Also the leaders in the democracy such as a president or governor are only elected for a term that lasts a couple of years. This allows the people to decide if they want the particular leader back in office or if they want him removed. That also limits the time a particular leader can be in the head office if he is a bad leader. One of the most important things about the democracy is it is more of a peoples government. This is simply because they have a say in what happens with certain acts, bills, or elections. This also helps keep the odds of an evil ruler or a ruler with bad intentions coming to power. I can only think of one negative thing to a democracy, which would be if the whole government was to get infected and get a negative or evil leader. However the chances of something like that happening in a democracy is very unlikely and almost impossible for it to happen, at least any time soon. Those are the reasons I have to support the democracy as the best government choice.
In
response to Melina Herrey I am going to have to disagree with a part of her
statement. In the end of her response she said that she feels democracy should
be the form of government in every country. I have to strongly disagree with
that statement since I feel we need to have different governmental systems. The
main reason I see this as a problem is because without different governments we
are never going to develop a better form of government than democracy. Now just
because democracy happens to be the best form of government now, that doesn’t mean
that there wont be a better form of government in the near future. I also feel
that if everyone was ruled under a democracy that it would take longer to
develop a new form of government. This would be because you wouldn’t be able to
pull good ideas from various governments and keep the bad ideas out of the new
forms of government. This reasoning was proven by another statement she made
which was allowing women to vote. America as a democracy government pulled some
valuable knowledge from a monarch form of government. I also have to disagree
with her statement that a monarch today is a democracy. I feel there is a
pretty big difference in the fact that in a democracy a bill or law has to go
through many parts of the government, but a monarchy is still a government run
by mainly one person with little voice if any by the people. However I have to
agree that a democracy is better for the people since it does allow the people
to voice their opinion and how they feel. I also agree with her statement
saying voting is a privilege and that everyone should vote so they voice their
opinion and elect whom they want.
