1. Identify 5 images in the poem: State whether they are visual, auditory, gustatory, olfactory, or tactile.  Comment on how the images reinforce the mood of the poem

“Pink with speckles” this is describing a wall and this would be considered a visual sense. This makes you feel young and happy since a pink speckled room would usually belong to a young child.

“The eye of a little god, four-cornered” this again is another image that is visual only now it is describing the mirror. This makes you realize how mirrors can not and will not lie, it reinforces the image of somewhat mean person for always telling the truth.

“She rewards me with tears and an agitation of hands” this image is showing how tears of a human will upset your hands and body. This reinforces the idea of the lake always being honest and truthful.

“Each morning it is her face that replaces the darkness” this image is mainly visual but can be tactile if in the sun as it will warm your skin. This remains true to the poem by showing that a mirror and true light are honest and always true.

“Then she turns to those liars, the candles or the moon” This is another visual image. This keeps to the truth of the poem by being honest and this line shows how darkness never tells the complete truth.
