b. Create hyperlinks that identify elements of plot
in the poem. (setting, conflict, exposition, rising action, climax, falling
action, and resolution. Include a sentence or two of commentary with each
hyperlink that will define the plot element listed above and offer a summary of
what is happening in the poem at that moment.
Setting- This is basically in the outdoors in nature trying
to find the location of a place with the name Eldorado. This creates the
thought of a peaceful, perfect, luxurious world that has no distractions or
harm in it. The knight is simply beginning or in the process of his search for
Eldorado.
Conflict- This would be the knights problem of finding the
city of Eldorado. He has been searching for so long that he is now old. It
seems that the knight started out being gallant but he has gradually become
weak and in need of hope.
Exposition- this is the outdoors; the knight is traveling to
find a destination that he wishes to find. This destination that he is looking
for is Eldorado. He has yet to found it and is becoming old since he has been
searching for so long.
Rising Action- This is when he meets the pilgrim shadow that will
tell him were Eldorado is located. This is when he becomes more enthusiastic
regaining the joy of the journey that he had when he began. Although he is now
old he feels that he is beginning to solve his mystery.
Climax- This is when the pilgrim shadow tells the knight
were he will find the land of Eldorado. This is in the "mountains of the
moon," and "Valley of the Shadow." He will leave for them in joy
and happiness.
Falling Action- This is when he leaves for the "mountains
of the moon," ”Valley of the Shadow," and the shadow.
He just finished talking to the pilgrim shadow, which is really he. Although he
does not yet no his destination of Eldorado is not obtainable at least not
until death.
Resolution- This is really once the poem is over. He never dies for sure but the reader knows that the resolution will be the knight’s death as Eduardo is only obtainable through death.
