Eldorado Diction
4. Create hyperlinks for specific examples of diction at the beginning,
middle and end of the poem and explain the connotation of the words.
Gallant- this often refers to an honorable
noble person with little or no fear. In this poem it refers to the knight, he
is showing no fear in his journey except for that of failure, which isn’t
really a fear.
Pilgrim- this was used to show that the shadow
is what he is he is on a journey and a pilgrim shadow is something that’s on a
journey. This choice of “pilgrim shadow” shows how the knight is on a journey.
Bold- this word is trying to
give the knight a sense of bravery and it is used to show that you must be bold
to be riding in search of Eldorado. Bold is also referenced with fearlessness.
