Plot Notes

 

Character-individuals taking part in the action of the story

 

 Main character (protagonist)-events of the story are centered on this character or individual

 

 Minor character-are less prominent characters

 

 Dynamic character-when a character changes in the story as the plot unfolds

 

 Static character-are characters that stay the same throughout the story their traits remain the same

Setting-are the events of the story that occur at a particular time and place or setting.

 

 Plot-refers to a chain of related events that take place in the story, usually the events or plot progress due to a conflict.

 

 Exposition-lays the groundwork for the plot and provides the reader with essential background

Information. Characters are introduced, and the setting is described.

 

 Inciting Incident- the actual event that starts the story

 

 Rising Action-is usually the result of complications, these cause difficulties for the character and create suspense as the character struggles to solve the conflict.

 

 Climax-the turning points of the action were interest and intensity reaches their peak.

 

 Falling Action-are events that occur after the climax, the conflict is usually resolved and the suspension and action subsides.

 

 Denouement (Resolution)-another name for the falling action, it comes from the French word meaning, “untying”, also the tangles of the plot are untied and the mysteries are solved
