World War I prison camps were usually very
unpleasant. These camps offered very little food and shelter. Often there was
little shelter and an insufficient supply of goods for the prisoners of war to
be properly nourished. However this is not odd since the men fighting on the
front were usually supplied with a very small amount of food that was somewhat
insufficient. The grounds were full of dirt and tiny maggots, with dead bodies
