I believe that overall the industrial Revolution was a positive experience. I believe that even though there were negatives with the industrialization the positives greatly outweighed the negatives. There are only two negatives that come to mind when talking about the industrial revolution, the first is the pollution that is given off from the machines; the other is that machines would often reduce the number of actual human labor needed. The positives would be more efficient businesses and less time spent on time consuming tasks. In an economic view the industrial revolution was positive since it allowed for farmers to plant crops more quickly and for them to place the crops in a more effective way. This led to farmers being able to produce more food in one growing season and for them to make more money with the land they got. Also the revolution brought about the development of the steam engine, which allowed for quick transportation on land and the ability to move goods from city to city with ease. The steam engine was also used to power machines in factories, which sped up production of textiles and other goods. Looking ahead the invention of the car and plane make the lives of people much better since you would be able to travel much further to jobs or families houses at your leisure. The industrial revolution also allowed an improvement in the social life. Workers began to interact more since people would come to the cities and work in factories this allowed the people of this time to make friends and to stop and eat with there friends and get to know how each others lives were. The Industrial Revolution also made the jobs of the workers easier since a machine now completed strenuous tasks. One machine that comes to mind would be the cotton gin. Those are some of the main reasons of why the industrial revolution was a positive experience.

Reply to Joey Roberts

I am going to have to agree with Joey Roberts since I believe what he said in his summary is true. I couldn’t agree more with him when he says that the Industrial Revolution brings people together from a social standpoint. This is true since people did have to work in factories, and they would have had to have learned to get along and listen to each other if they were to survive the long harsh hours that the workers suffered until unions came along; these unions would limit the work of the factory workers and give them some benefits. I also Agree with Joey saying that inventors come together since they would have likely met often sharing ideas on how to improve on their future creations. I also agree with Joey when he says that the economy was impacted with inventions. Joey mentions some great inventions in his paragraph; like the spinning mule, the “iron horse”, the Dynamo which was a generator that produced electricity, and the steam engine and as he already mentioned these inventions did benefit the people and community in a positive way. The steam engine allowed for machine power and it was eventually used to power trains which allowed people to travel long distances and spread there goods, mainly food crops that would have spoiled before the time of the train. I also like that Joey acknowledges the fact that the production of the railroad created even more jobs for those that may have lost there previous job to a machine. The one part of the statement I didn’t agree with was that those positions were only available when railroads were being built. Those are the main topics that Joey talked about and I agreed on all of them since they were all strong points explaining why the Industrial Revolution was a positive experience.
