How to begin? What can be said that hasn't already been? Well, I've got some interesting tales to relate concerning our man Sid. The Sad Vacation that summed up his short life has some elements untold as of yet that will be revealed on this page. I will do an interview with Jo Jo Marshall (Joanne to close friends) and talk about Todd Smith's violent interaction with Sid. Jo Jo and Rockets Redglare were there at Hurrah's that night - October 13th 1978 - and helped Sid out the back exit. I'll explain further when I interview Jo Jo... Unfortunately, Rockets is no longer among the living so there will be no interview with him, but I was visiting him at the hospital where he perished and we discussed his somewhat guilty feelings concerning Sid's death. (He was Sid's official "bodyguard" in NYC.) Jon Savage's book "England's Dreaming" called Rockets among other things a police informant, which is utter bullshit. UPDATE --July 28,2003 What was it that Sid said? "I'm sorry she's dead but I did it coz I'm a dirty dog." |
