Japanese Juniper

This is my first bonsia.  I purchased it as a seven year old tree on December 6, 2003.  These pictures were taken 2 weeks later.  The needles have turned brown slightly, and a few have fallen off (mostly on the one branch - see pictures below).  I'm hoping that this is just shock from the tree having been moved, and that the tree will recover come spring.

I'm not sure yet as to how I will prune the tree in the future, other than that I plan on letting the top of it fill out a little.  In order to show off the branch structure a little more, the previous owner chopped of the front half of the apex.

I will post new pictures of the tree come spring.  I am interested on any comments you may have about this bonsai in training.

Most of the needles have nown turned a very pale green color. Additionally, the soil is not draining right.  In the 3 weeks I have had the tree, I've only had to water it once.  The soil is not drying out.  I just repotted the tree in an attempt to revive it, but it will be a miracle if it survives the mid-winter repotting - assuming its not already dead.  I'll add an update come spring.
