Roondar the Dark
"The Professor"
Roonder the Dark (often called, "The Professor" by his friends) was born in 1269DR in the Human nation of Halruaa and his parents took the first opportunity to set him up to become an illusionist.  At 15, he was placed under the tutelage of Goobsnob Gerabing.  While investigating local phenonenon in a tomb, he was seperated from his expedition by a violent cave-in.  Only 20, he was presumed dead.
In actuality, the cave-in sealed Roondar in the tomb and awoke the dead it held.  Roondar managed to calm the undead and escape death that day.  Over the next few years he gained a rather comfortable relationship with those with which he was sharing quarters.  They even began seeing to his needs, bringing him food and water.  Roonder relied on the undead for company, and the undead found comfort for their lost souls in his council.

Twenty-three years had passed before a mining team crashed through the cave-in in the Year of the Griffon.  Roondar was at first relieved to be freed, but when the miners began attacking and killing his friends, he rallied them into an offensive that killed everyone in the team, but also destroyed his home and friends.  Looting the miner's belongings, he shopped for magical goods and delved into the dark study of Necromancy.

In the Year of the Gulagoar, Roondar heard whispers of a hidden Necromantic college.  After months of searching through tomes of lore, he found what is known as the Bleak Academy, and immediately enrolled.  Roondar spent the next decade gaining knowledge in the dark arts.  Obsessed now with the study of undead, he began the path of the Pale Master in the Year of the Dragon.  Two years later, he was asked to take over at the academy as Professor of Religion.  He gained his Professorship while publishing numerous articles and books on his fields of expertise, and was granted tenure in the Year of the Wyvern.  When the term ended in the Year of Wild Magic, he took a sebbatical, beginning personal field study until further notice.

Roondar adventures to gain knowledge, as adventurers are generally the only ones who ever get to see the more exotic undead.

A student of his drew the only existing picture of Roondar.  The artist was liqufied moments later for his insolence  and raised as the Professor's slave.
