Nanami Kamatsu has dreamed her entire life of serving her family's main purpose: To guard the Empress of the Sasani Empire with her life. She was born to Gozu, a sworn Samurai of the Snake clan, and SHami, a commoner until the age of twenty-six, at which point Gozu asked her to be his wife. A man of such prestigious rank taking a commoner to be his own caused quite a stir in the Nanami household, and the couple was subject to downward looks and glares for many years.
They bore three children: Akira, Kamatsu, and Koji, their only son. Akira went off to be a monk, and Koji swore his life to the family Daisho. Three years after Koji was born, Shami sacrificed her life to save Dopo, the ruling lady of the Nanami house. This brought great honor to Gozu and his kin, and the looks transformed from scorn to respect.
At this point Kamatsu was seven years old, and started attending the Snake's Pit school where she began training to prepare for the role of royal guardian. Fast and nimble, she quickly impressed her instructors, though she often ran into |

trouble making the right decisions regarding the school rules and how to respect them. Her battle prowess rivaled that of students years ahead of her, but Kamatsu's distinctive ruthlessness and severe dedication to her party and clan ideals had even the most devout shugenjas calling her, "dedicated, even to a fault." Because of her pride in her family and clan she openly wears her clan colors constantly and is known to be an avid collector of jade snakes. She mainly wields a spiked chain as she believes this most reflects the serpent's strike. Kamatsu loves the art of poison, and relaxes by painting miniatures.
Skilled with the chains and dedicated as she is, young Nanami Kamatsu is known to be ruthless even beyond the steriotypical snake. She is always trying to be the best guardian she can, and because of this, is sometimes known to be, "paranoid and overprotective." She adventures to gain experience fighting all the evils of the world, so when the Empress makes her return, Kamatsu will be the obvious choice. |
