Backstreet Boys Postpone Summer Tour
This announcement comes as the group reveals that member A.J. McLean reveals that he will imediately undergo a 30-day treatment for his clinical depression which has recently lead to anxiety and exessive consumption of alcohol.
In a joint statement, Backstreet Boys, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson said: "It's been suggested that we not be so forth coming about this situation, as many artists in the industry have in the past, but we feel compelled as a group to be honest with our fans and not let them down. A.J. is our friend and our brother and we whole-heartedly support him during this difficult time. Fortunately, A.J. has realized that he can't solve his problems by himself."
"Because he is unable to tour at this time, we are postponing dates and will make them up as soon as we can." the group added" At the same time we trust that our fans--who've always stood by up for us--will understand this decision is absolutely necessary in order for A.J. to be well. We look forward to seeing you on the road soon."
Tickets already purchased for the upcoming postponed shows will be honored for the rescheuled dates. Refunds for any or the concerts will also be made available.
On the advice of his doctors Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean has decided to extend his stay by 2 weeks citing that 30 days isn't enough.
A.J. will go through a transitional perriod of learning to live his life without alcohol. which will push their tour dates up to August 24 in Millwakee, Wisconson.
AJ is back in action and as you can see from this Teen People magazine spread, AJ is still the same perky Backstreet Boy he's always been but now he takes his life one step at a time.
