Tokyo Works
There is a fine line between death and sleep. Everyone looks kind when they are sleeping, but so many thoughts are swirling within. I use ordinary pen, charcoal and ink on paper to try to see people the way a mother or God would. Many figures are together and intimate, yet always seperate; connected and close, but never touching.
When we dream, we are in a world of our own. Perhaps death is the same. These works also referrence the burial customs of many countries, and echo the tragedies of Hiroshima and others in the world. Let us remember, that man is matter, and into the abyss we must all plunge.
