P&O North Sea Ferries ordered 2 cruiseferries at the Italian shipyard Fincantieri. The Worlds' greatest ferries would cost £90 million each.

The intention is putting on both ships from april and december 2001 on the line Hull-Rotterdam. They will replace four ships on this line.
 

A few technical details:

  • A total weight of 60600GRT.
  • A maximum speed of 22 knots (crossing time 2,5 hours)
  • 1360 passengers and a crew of 136.
  • Space for 250 cars who drive into the ship by a side-door.
  • 3 cargodecks, in total 3400 lanemeters.
  • Space for 400 freightunits.
  • 546 luxuary passengercabins.
  • All luxuary facilities will be on board to make the crossing as pleasant as possible.
