Anyone who has hung around me long enough knows that I love Samurai movies. From Kurasawa to Hanzo the Razor I love them all. So when I saw a flyer for a theme park where they actually film the beloved moves I had to go. So on our second to last day in Kyoto Ben and I head for "Samurai Disneyland"

Samurai movies are filmed right here! This place was huge. There were parts of this "town" that were blocked off because they were filming, but from a distance you could watch a movie being made. It was so cool.

Here are some props from the movie "Red Shadow" It's in Japanese theaters right now. It was filmed here at the Studio Park.

Here are the prop weapons... They look less like props than real weapons..

My favorite prop. Mental note: See Red Shadow.

Much like "Universal Studios" you could see how a show is filmed.

They had lots of demonstrations of acting techniques. This guy was presenting something about sword fighting. Of course it was all in Japanese and this being our first week in Japan, we didn't get much out of it.

And of course no Japanese movie theme park is complete without realistic monsters.

I think I'd make a pretty darn good Samurai
