Biography of Kevin Dodds Ottawa Valley Professional Artist
Born and raised in Arnprior, Ontario, Kevin has rapidly gained international recognition as a gifted artist of fine-crafted oil and watercolour paintings. Though many works are inspired by the picturesque scenery of the Ottawa Valley, his acute sensitivity to the past and love of rich colorful heritage of rural settings is reminiscent of any Canadian landscape. It may take several days to many weeks of conceptualizing and preparing before the actual work begins, the finished product possibly taking up to several months to complete. Most of Kevin's originals sell in the initial sketching phase, before they even reach the completed stage. His paintings, filled with warmth and brilliance, are special and unique and are on exhibit worldwide, many in private and corporate collections in Canada, the United States, England, and Belgium.
The esteemed title of Canadian Feature Artist was bestowed upon Kevin by several PBS television stations in the Northeastern United States: in Watertown, New york (1994); Plattsburgh, New York (1997); and in Binghamton, New York (1998). Professional exhibits of his evocative work have been displayed at the Canadian Museum of Nature (Ottawa, Ontario), 1994-1996; the McCord Museum (Montreal, Quebec), 1997-1999; the Plattsburgh Museum of Art (Plattsburgh, New York), 1997-1999; and the Canadian Museum of Civilisation (Hull, Quebec), 2002. In addition, with the Watercan Association in 1998-1999, Kevin had the privilege of proudly displaying his work in the Hall of Honour on Parliament Hill, Ottawa, Canada.
This self-taught artist, also, has credit to his name for featured artwork in the 1998 movie "Undercover Angel" starring James Earl Jones and Yasmine Bleethe, as well as cover illustrator for the children's book series, "Medieval Madness" (Turtles Publishing). Furthermore, Kevin has been the subject of numerous Canadian and American documentaries pertaining to him and his work, his inspirations, and his influences. Kevin's art is currently available as beautiful limited edition reproductions printed on high-quality acid-free paper, canvas and fine collectors' plates. The plates, manufactured by Winston Roland, based in London, Ontario, usually pre-sell even before they are in the Gallery and several are now sold out worldwide, thus dramatically increasing their value as collector items.
