| Kevin Broad grew up in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. In his youth his talent to draw was recognized. He became a painting student of impressionist Marguerite Callahan for ten years. Kevin studied art and religion in college. During the formative years of his career he painted watercolors, attempting to capture light in the landscape around him. Kevin began the study of technique that has since directed the process of his work. He ground pigment into gouache, egg tempera, and oil. More recently, he has worked in fresco, using earth pigment and lime plaster. As an artist, Kevin believes in classical methods creating form. His concern is with the intrinsic nature of the subject and the surface quality of the painting. His quest for knowledge of materials is aimed at using such materials with fluidity. |
