| Cruisin' We got soaked last night from the constant rain and the leaking tent in Packrat's backyard. So, around 4:30 am, we decided to move inside to the bunkhouse. Kevin stayed up while I got a couple of hours more sleep. We were supposed to get an early start (that's a constant statement), but we couldn't pull ourselves away until after watching one more movie. We were finally on our way by 11:30 and made it to the Trail just before noon. And we still had 15 miles to do. Oops. So, we started walking at a good pace. It's always hard to leave towns, but today was especially difficult. Mud, uphills, hot and muggy weather don't make for great fun while hiking. Medicine Man, Sunshine, Cadence, Kevin and I played some games like "cartoon trivia" and "name that movie quote" that made the day go a bit faster. Also, Cadence shared his cadence that he made up about hiking (hence his trailname)- it was great! We finally made it to the lean-to just before dark. I was so happy to see the sign but then quickly realized that we had .2 more to go, uphill. Aargh. Up we trodded and made it to this cool looking, 6-sided shelter, in time to wake up all the hikers snuggled inside :) hehe. Kevin was miserable, so he wolfed down some snacks and hit the sack. I was sleeping shortly after he was. Mmmm.... sleep.... yeah. - Snoozin' Bobo |
