| Second of the Zero Days The second of the zero days is supposed to consist of sitting on my butt, eating salt and vinegar chips guiltlessly and washing them down with beer. Unfortunately, we were consumed with errands. Well, that and eating. The morning started with a delicious breakfast at a local place known for their homemade bread, Loaf Around. We then planned on an expedition to Wal-Mart, mainly to buy a battery for our camera (the camera and battery charger were missing when we switched rooms at the hotel). After walking several miles to Wally World in the heat along a busy highway, I realized how necesary cars are around here. We finally got there and walked into what is the ugliest site I've seen in the past month - rows and rows of unnecessary junk. Yuck! This whole civilization thing is quite disturbing and slightly overwhelming. Chicago will definitely be a shock that will take time to adjust to. The timing worked out perfectly and we caught a bus back to the hotel (yes!). After more running around, we ended the day by chilling out with good wine (compliments of the padres) and Ben and Jerry's (brownie batter is the bomb!) and enjoyed the company of Medicine Man and Sunshine. - Anti-civilization Bobo |
