Miles: 8.9 (plus 0.1 side trip)
After a 2-around french toast breakfast this morning, the senior Keith Shaw drove up up to the trailhead. I had a lot of fun hanging out there for a couple of days, but I think I was ready to move on. The filming for the movie started today, so I'm sure we would have been booted out anyway.
This morning was extremely muggy and hot, sapping all of my energy quickly. The terrain was fairly easy, but I wasn't up for a long day. I think I'm also a bit sad about leaving Shaw's. They do almost too good of a job making you feel at home :)
We had the option to push on for 9 more miles to the next lean-to or stay at Horseshow Canyon and risk boredom at camp. We decided to take it easy and stayed here, even though we made it in by 2. Tomorrow will be a long one - we get to climb Moxie Bald! Woo-hoo! We saw a NOBO today with gashes on his legs, received from the slippery rock faces climbing to Moxie Bald's summit. Sounds like fun... right.
My new goal is Caratunk. We'll be there in a couple short days :)
